It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas for troubled limousine sector. The attraction? Christmas light tours, an increasingly competitive field for chauffeurs of stretched Hummers, Lincolns, Cadillacs, even Dodge Chargers. Charles “Chuck” Cotton, owner of VIP Limousine in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, started running his light tour ads last week. “If you don’t book now, you may lose out,” he said. |

Whenever we mere mortals think about the various trappings of wealth, we'd probably imagine lavishly designed mansions, larger swimming pools, expensive designer clothes and, of course, beautiful limousines stocked with expensive alcohol and state-of-the-art electronic equipment. |

A limousine driver parked on a Great Neck roadside was robbed at knifepoint Monday night.
Detectives said a man opened the limousine's door and put a knife to the left ear of the driver, a 27-year-old man, and demanded money and his cell phone. Another man, an apparent accomplice of the robber, stood at the limousine's passenger door.
At the time of the robbery, 7:35 pm. Monday, the limousine was parked at 683 Middle Neck Rd The driver complied, handing over his money and his work cell phone but keeping his personal cell phone, which he used to call 911 as the two men ran toward Crampton Lane. The driver was not injured.
Detectives ask anyone with information on this crime to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous. |

Developed with having the wealthy and famous in mind, the concept of a chauffeured vehicle such as the limousine, has been in existence since the middle ages, with the advent of the chauffeured horse-driven carriage .
The word limousine is generally a female, or feminine adjective that was taken from the word Limoges, which is the province in France that started it all. One of the famous features which made the limo a unique one from other vehicles is that the driver is situated or placed inn an entirely separate chamber, or compartment from their passengers. |
