NORWALK, Conn. -- A limousine driver who fatally struck a state Department of Transportation worker in 2005 is given prison time for violating his probation.

Oliver Lee of Bridgeport had pleaded guilty last year to negligent homicide in the death of Robert Mugford Senior.

Mugford was killed when Lee's limousine struck him while he set up traffic cones in a work zone on Route 7 in Norwalk.

Lee originally received a six-month suspended sentence, but was ordered Friday to serve five months in prison for failing to meet terms of his probation.

Those terms included performing 1,000 hours of community service, surrendering his commercial driver's license permanently, giving up his personal license for a year and meeting other requirements.

Officials say he missed visits to his probation officer earlier this year, visited family out of state without his probation officer's permission, and did not perform any of his required community service.

Lee was arrested on the violation of probation charge in September and will be credited for the time he served while awaiting sentencing.

Mugford's relatives attended Friday's court hearing and did not object to the sentencing, officials said.
