Pittsburgh transportation company sold to French firm French transportation firm buys Pittsburgh owner of taxi, shuttle and limousine companies PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Pittsburgh Transportation Group, which operates Yellow Cab and other shuttle and limousine companies in Allegheny County, has been sold to French conglomerate Veolia Transportation, the company announced.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. In January, Pittsburgh Transportation agreed to the sale, which is expected to be approved by year's end, company president and CEO James Campolongo said Monday. Pittsburgh Transportation operates more than 600 vehicles with 450 independent contractors and employs more than 300 people in companies that include Yellow Cab, Peoples Cab, Express Shuttle and Embassy Coach/Limousine Service. Veolia established North American operations in 2005 in Oak Brook, Ill. It has rail contracts in Boston and Los Angeles and runs fixed-route commuter bus contracts in several states as well as Washington, D.C., and Canada. |
